February 19, 2012 – The Winnipeg Jets beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-1 at the MTS Centre.

Bryan Little notched two goals and Blake Wheeler chipped in with four assists on the night. The victory made it three wins in a row for the Jets.

February 19, 1988- Clint Malarchuk recorded his 7th career shutout, and Kevin Hatcher picked up three assists as the Capitals won 6-0 against the Jets, at Winnipeg Arena.

February 19, 1966- Former Winnipeg Jets Right Winger, Peter Douris, was born in Toronto, Ont.

Douris was drafted in the 2nd Round (30th overall) by the Jets in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. He played just 21 games with Winnipeg between 1985-88 before being traded to St. Louis in 1989.

December 23, 1993- Teemu Selanne notched the seventh hat trick of his career, and added one assist to lead the Jets to a 5-2 win over the Quebec Nordiques at the Winnipeg Arena.

December 23, 1983 – Dale Hawerchuk scored his 100th career NHL goal and added an assist as the Winnipeg Jets won 6-3 over the visiting St. Louis Blues at Winnipeg Arena. St. Louis forward, Guy Chouinard, scored the 200th goal of his career during the same game.

December 23, 1980 – The Winnipeg Jets beat the Colorado Rockies 5-4 to end their 30 game winless streak (0-23-7). It would be the worst ever NHL season for the Jets, giving up 400 Goals and earning just nine victories.

During the streak the Jets went through three coaches – Tommy McVie, Bill Sutherland, and Mike Smith.

Doug Smail led the scoring in the victory with a goal and two assists. Smail would only notch 6 more assists the entire season.

December 4, 1991: Troy Murray had a goal and an assist to give him 500 NHL career points, in a 5-4 Jets’ win over Buffalo, at the Winnipeg Arena.

December 4, 1988: Calgary Flames Captain, Lanny McDonald, racked up his 500th career assist as the Flames beat the Winnipeg Jets 6-3 at the Winnipeg Arena.

December 4, 1984: Brian Sutter picked up two assists to reach his 500th career NHL point, as the Blues tied 2-2 with the visiting Winnipeg Jets.

December 4, 1981: Washington’s Dennis Maruk was too much for the Jets to handle, scoring four goals and adding two assists in the Capitals 7-3 win over Winnipeg in Washington. It was the 10th hat trick of Maruk’s NHL career.

December 2, 1990: The Jets couldn’t contain Garth Butcher on this night as the Canucks blueliner piled up four assists in a 5-1 Vancouver victory over the Jets in Winnipeg.

December 2, 1989: The Jets lost dropped a 6-3 decision at home to the New York Islanders. Islanders Centerman, Brent Sutter, a goal and three assists in the victory.

December 2, 1984: All-Star Defenseman, Randy Carlyle, notched 4 assists in an offensive battle as the Jets managed a 8-6 victory at home versus the Calgary Flames.  Carlyle finished the season 51 points in 71 games and represented Winnipeg, along with Paul MacLean, as a member of the Campbell Conference All-Star team.

December 2, 1979: The Jets dropped a 4-0 decision the new York Islanders. The shutout marked the 12th time Islander goaltender Billy Smith had blanked an NHL opponent. Smith and the Islanders went on to win their first of four straight Stanley Cups that season.

October 9 is one of the most memorable days in history for many Jets fans as it represents the first NHL goal of one of the most revered players in the history of the franchise and the date the NHL and the Jets returned to Winnipeg!

October 9, 1981: Rookie Dale Hawerchuk scored the first goal of his NHL career 54 seconds into the first period, then added another goal and two assists as the Jets won 8-3 over the visiting New York Rangers.

October 9, 2011: The Winnipeg Jets made their regular season debut at the MTS Centre in front of an emotional and sold-out crowd. Not even the 5-1 loss at the hands of the Montreal Canadiens could wipe the smiles off of the faces of Jets fans as the National Hockey League made it’s long-awaited return to Winnipeg.
