<p><strong>February 19, 2012</strong> &#8211; The Winnipeg Jets beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-1 at the MTS Centre.</p>
<p>Bryan Little notched two goals and Blake Wheeler chipped in with four assists on the night. The victory made it three wins in a row for the Jets.</p>
<p><strong>February 19, 1988</strong>- Clint Malarchuk recorded his 7th career shutout, and Kevin Hatcher picked up three assists as the Capitals won 6-0 against the Jets, at Winnipeg Arena.</p>
<p><strong>February 19, 1966</strong>- Former Winnipeg Jets Right Winger, Peter Douris, was born in Toronto, Ont.</p>
<p>Douris was drafted in the 2nd Round (30th overall) by the Jets in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. He played just 21 games with Winnipeg between 1985-88 before being traded to St. Louis in 1989.</p>

<p><strong>December 23, 1983</strong> &#8211; Dale Hawerchuk scored his 100th career NHL goal and added an assist as the Winnipeg Jets won 6-3 over the visiting St. Louis Blues at Winnipeg Arena. St. Louis forward, Guy Chouinard, scored the 200th goal of his career during the same game.</p>
<p><strong>December 23, 1980</strong> &#8211; The Winnipeg Jets beat the Colorado Rockies 5-4 to end their 30 game winless streak (0-23-7). It would be the worst ever NHL season for the Jets, giving up 400 Goals and earning just nine victories.</p>
<p>During the streak the Jets went through three coaches &#8211; Tommy McVie, Bill Sutherland, and Mike Smith.</p>
<p>Doug Smail led the scoring in the victory with a goal and two assists. Smail would only notch 6 more assists the entire season.</p>

<p><strong>December 2, 1989:</strong> The Jets lost dropped a 6-3 decision at home to the New York Islanders. Islanders Centerman, Brent Sutter, a goal and three assists in the victory.</p>
<p><strong>December 2, 1984:</strong> All-Star Defenseman, Randy Carlyle, notched 4 assists in an offensive battle as the Jets managed a 8-6 victory at home versus the Calgary Flames.  Carlyle finished the season 51 points in 71 games and represented Winnipeg, along with Paul MacLean, as a member of the Campbell Conference All-Star team.</p>
<p><strong>December 2, 1979:</strong> The Jets dropped a 4-0 decision the new York Islanders. The shutout marked the 12th time Islander goaltender Billy Smith had blanked an NHL opponent. Smith and the Islanders went on to win their first of four straight Stanley Cups that season.</p>

Not even the 5-1 loss at the hands of the Montreal Canadiens could wipe the smiles off of the faces of Jets fans as the National Hockey League made it&#8217;s long-awaited return to Winnipeg.</p>
