Carolina Hurricanes 28-29-15, 71 pts

Winnipeg Jets 34-29-8, 76 pts

7:30pm MTS Centre

Another day another game of the season for the Jets. Will the Jets be able to play at the same level they did against the Caps? Who cares! The real question is what chant will the Jets fans use tonight. Silver Medal was good and Crosby’s Better was brillant so how do you top it? I’m sure the boys in the upper deck will come up with something. At the start of the season I said that the Crowd at the MTS Centre would be good for probably 5 extra wins this season. I think we have already eclipsed that mark. If the Hockey gods are kind the Jets could find themselves tied for 8th by the end of the night. First things first take care of the Canes.

3 KEYS

NO LET DOWN

The Jets have to win every single home game and this is one of them. The more they win at home the less they need to win on the road. After Friday’s emotional win over the Caps this could be considered a trap game since the Cane’s have been bottom feeders all season. The Jets have not down well against teams they should dominate. That needs to change tonight as the Canes will not be a pushover. They have been playing really well as of late and are actually still in the Playoff hunt. A loss tonight would probably dash any hopes they have so expect them to come out fast and hard.

KEEP THE BIG GUNS FIRING

When the Jets are good its because its top 6 forwards are playing well. The Jets are a team with not a lot of depth so its important that their stars act like stars. Wheeler, Kane and Buff need to take this team on their shoulders and carry them into the playoffs. Lately that has been happening in spades and that is why the Jets have had so much success as of late. Since Dec 1st the Jets have the best home record in the East. If you look at the stats it correlates with the emergence of the Jets top players.

EYE ON THE PRIZE

Next Friday is huge but there are 3 games to play before next week’s giant showdown against the Caps. The Jets must keep their eye on the game at hand and not be looking forward or watching the out of town scores. All the Jets can do is focus on the opponent infront of them and tonight its the Canes. The old cliches have to be true for the rest of the season. The Jets just have to take it one game, period, even shift at a time. Noel needs to focus his players on the details not the big picture. That will all work itself out in the end but for now they have to just play 60 minutes at a time.

Go Jets Go!
