Jets History: December 19
On December 19, 1992 Bob Essensa, picked up his first shutout of the season backstopping the Jets to a 1-0 victory against the St. Louis Blues.
It was the Jets’ first victory in St. Louis since December 14, 1982!
Essensa managed just one more shutout in the 1992-93, a year where he was peppered with shots. He made a whopping 1,892 saves that season, second only to Curtis Joseph.
That 1992-93 season saw Essensa play, a club record, 67 total games for the Jets and equal Brian Hayward’s franchise record of 33 wins, which was set in 1984-85.
