Jets History: January 20
January 20, 1989 – Winnipeg Jets rookie, Pat Elynuik , tied the team record with five points (2 G, 3A) in a single period.
Elynuik notched the handful of points all in the second period of a 7-3 Jets victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins at Winnipeg Arena.
Elynuik actually stole the show from Mario Lemieux that night! The loss to the Jets made it a bitter sweet night for Mario – he scored his 50th goal in the 44th game of the season.
