Dale HawerchukMarch 6, 1984 – Winnipeg Jets superstar and former first round draft pick, Dale Hawerchuk, set an NHL record with five assists in one period.

Hawerchuck notched five assists in the second period, propelling the Jets 7-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings.

Hawerchuck finished the season with 65 assists and 102 points to lead all Jets players by an astonishing 23 point margin.

March 6, 1984 was also the NHL trade deadline for that season. The Winnipeg Jets obtained Randy Carlyle from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Winnipeg’s 1st-round choice in the 1984 Entry Draft (D Doug Bodger) and future considerations (D Moe Mantha). This trade was actually done one day before trading deadline on March 5, 1984.
