Big week for the good guys. It’s less than a week until the puck drops on what must seem like a fairy tale ending for the City of Winnipeg. Schieflele signs, TSN looks at the Jets and Bogosian tries playing a little wing.
This week I’ll be looking at the Jets from a fantasy hockey perspective. We will preview the home opener and I’ll give you a sneak peak at my Jets’ party this weekend complete with menu and recipes. Now lets see today’s links!
Mark Schiefele signs an entry level contract. My sources tell me its $925,000 salary plus signing bonus and $700,000 average bonuses. All together a $1.625 cap hit. And when I say sources, I mean Darren Dreger’s twitter feed. [Jets/NHL]
The Jets home opener will be the biggest story of the first week and probably until the playoffs. [NHL]
TSN looks at the upcoming season, though I disagree that Wheeler is the player to watch to have a breakout season. [TSN]
After what happened in early October, last year Jet’s netminder Ondrej Pavelec has a different outlook on life and hockey. I just got to say the more I get to know about these guys the more I’m so glad we got the Thrashers than the spoiled brats on the Coyotes. This team has character. [Winnipeg Free Press]
I like that Jets coach Claude Noel is willing to think outside the box when it comes to how he will use the tools he has been given. Though I’m not sure about moving Bogosian to forward on a permanent basis, I like the idea of getting him out there on the powerplay. He’s a big kid with good hands. [Winnipeg Sun]
