Jets Links September 28th, 2011

Just over a week until the start of the NHL season. You excited? 20 players are cut from camp, looking into a crystal ball and better cell service at the MTS Center. All this and more in todays Jets links.

The Mark Scheifele love fest continues. I really hope the coaches do an honest evaluation and do whats right for the kid rather than succumb to the pressure by the media and the fans. [Winnipeg Free Press]

Scheifele could stick around for at least the first part of the season before he is sent back to Junior. I think this would be the best bet. Lets see how he does against the top players. If Scheifele can’t crack the top six, then he needs to back to Junior to get the ice time he needs to develop. [Winnipeg Sun]

The Jets cut 20 including Jason Jaffray, who I thought looked decent in preseason action [Toronto Sun]

While the off ice future of the Jets is solid, no one including the Coach really knows what to expect from this team. [Globe & Mail]

As a documentary filmmaker, I am interested to see this and see what the reaction to it is outside of Winnipeg. [CBC]

In today’s world of social networking this is an important story. I know I have trouble not being connected for three hours. Good to see True North and MTS working to fix the little things. [Winnipeg Free Press]

It must be tough for the guys on the bubble. [Canoe]

The Jets AHL club opens camp. Very exciting times on the Rock. [Winnipeg Free Press]

I know I was losing sleep over this but Lay’s has now been named the Official Chip of the Winnipeg Jets. I really thought Old Dutch had it in the bag (see what I did there?) [DSN]
