Winnipeg 5-6-1 11pts

New Jersey 5-5-1 11pts

6pm Prudential Center

The Jets look to hit the .500 mark for the first time this season as the continue their epic road trip in the Garden State. They will face the Devils with a depleted defense as the injuries continue to mount up. The good news for the Jets is that The Devils will be without their star and former Thrasher  Ilya Kovalchuk who is too injured to play. After the Islander’s game the Jets just need to hope that Pavelec continues his stellar play. He is proving that he an elite goalie on this trip.

Budding star Evander Kane has been on fire recently after a very sluggish start. He has been absolutely dominating since they moved him to play with Nik Antropov and Alex Burmistrov. The Jets need him to continue his scoring ways. This will force teams to focus on him therefore giving more room to the speedy Burmistrov who can make a lot of things happen when he has the space. Kane has been punishing the opposing team on the forecheck and this style of play is exactly what the Jets coaching staff want out of the 20 yr old.

With Enstrom, Stuart and Jones all injured the Jets cannot afford anymore more injuries on the blue line. While Festerling and Flood played good after being called up from St. Johns they are no where near the skill level of the three injured Jets. Enstrom has been the best D man so far this season and will be out for an extended period of time with a broken collar bone. Big Buff, Oduya and Bogosian all need to step it up and take their game to a new level. Oduya needs to stop the boneheaded give aways, Buff needs to pick his spots when to rush and Bogosian has to just slow things down and make the right choices. While these injuries suck it could also be a positive as it will build depth in a defensive unit that could surely use it. To quote the Simpsons “The Chinese have the same word for crisis and opportunity- Crisitunity”.

A Message to Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec – Don’t change a thing. I mean it,. Change Nothing. Keep the exact same routine that you have had for the past week. Eat the same food. Listen to the same music, wear the same clothes. Do not change a single thing. Seriously Don’t! Thank you.

Goalies are a strange breed, one that is superstitious and lives off of routine. Pavelec is super hot right now and should do nothing to jepordize his streak. Claude Noel needs to ride him until he loses. A hot goalie is a wonderful thing. It can make the most mediocre teams great for a while and the Jets are going to need these hot streaks if they have any hope of making the playoffs. So lets just hop on the Pavelec train and see where it takes us. A few more performances like he’s had recently and this team is back in the hunt.

Go Jets Go.
