Winnipeg Jets 32-28-8, 72 pts
Calgary Flames 30-25-12, 72 pts
8:00pm Scotiabank Saddledome
This is the first time two teams that left the same city meet. The internet heros in Atlanta are going to love this. If you every want a laugh go to Facebook and read some of the stuff the Thrasher fans have to say. Keep the Thrashers and We Want the Thrashers Back are good places to start. Some of its sad and some of it is unintentionally funny. There is one guy on there whom I am not going to name, but this guy has so much hatred and bile towards Winnipeg and Canada that you just have to laugh. Anyway the Jets dropped a tough one last night and will be looking to bounce back against the Flames. Winnipeg must win this one to keep pace for a playoff spot since last night’s win by the Caps pushed the Jets to 9th.
SHAKE IT OFF
There is no shame in last night’s loss. vancouver was a Stanley Cup finalist last season and could easily return there again this year. The Jets were able to hang with them but it is pretty evident that other than the top lines, Winnipeg Just doesn’t match up with the Western Conference Powerhouse. They are close but not there yet. Winnipeg just needs to come back and play the same sort of game. Against anyone else that effort last night probably would have resulted in 2pts. If the Jets come out the same way they should have a good chance taking out the injury rattled Flames.
TAKE A LOAD OFF PAV
Pavelec was great again last night but there is no way the Jets can afford to give up that many shots. Sure it was against one of the top offenses in the NHL but the Jets still need to find a way to limit the other team’s chances. There is only so much the stand out goalie and do. At some point the rest of the team needs to step up and tighten the game. Run and gun is a great way to play when you are against teams that don’t have a lot of fire power but against the likes of the Canucks or Flyers eventually the law of averages will kick in and they will get their goals.
LUCK BE A LADY
Sometimes you just need some luck. last night the Jets had luck unfortunately it was all of the bad variety. There’s not much you can do when the puck bounces off a skate. Take those goals away and the Jets win that game. Well now is the time for some of the bounces to go the Jets way. Last night hurt but the players need to know that eventually it will all even out. There will be games where no bounces go your way and some when they all do. With the Jets playing a back to back game lets hope that a few go their way tonight.
