Florida Panthers 37-25-17, 91 pts

Tonight the Jets get to play spoilers. Since they are not officially eliminated from the post season they can do what ever it takes to ruin it for someone else. I think its inevitable that the Panthers get in but wouldn’t it be sweet to knock out a division rival? The Jets will be without Kyle Wellwood who is done for the season with a broken foot. Seems like its contagious since he’s the second Jet to be sidelined with that injury. Patrice Cormier gets the call up and of all the Jets prospects I think he’s one of the closest to making the club next year. I’ve always been a fan of his style and I like that he can also put the puck in the net.

The Jets would like nothing better than to ruin the Panther’s Division Titile and playoff hopes and they can take a step towards that with a win tonight. The Panthers can clinch a birth for the first time since 2000 with a win tonight. Its funny they spent all this money in the off season and are still a marginal playoff team. It just goes to prove you can’t buy your way into the playoffs in the NHL.

The Jets lack the killer instinct especially on the road. All season they have had leads going into the 3rd only to see it squandered in the final frame. Last game against the Bolts was similar. The Jets had a lead going into the final stretch but allowed the Lightning back in it. Now to be fair a lot of that had to do with the reffing but the Jets still need to learn how to finish off teams if they are going to compete in this league.

The Jets can play spoiler tonight but they must also play for something else, each other. While there will be some changes to the roster next season its safe to say that the core group of guys will be back. Now is the time you build chemistry. Its easy to get along and bond when you are winning. Try doing that when things aren’t going so well. This team has a had a tough year but the only way its going to ever get better is if the come togehter as a team and say “this is not good enough. We demand improvement.”

Go Jets Go!
