L.A. Kings 18-14-5 41pts

Winnipeg Jets 17-14-5-39pts

7:30pm MTS Centre

Now that the Jets are in a playoff positon the trick will be to stay there and it starts tonight as the Kings of LA make a trip to the MTSC. The Kings played last night which bodes well for the Jets who do well against teams who play back to back games.  LA started off the season a little slow but has picked up the pace since firing their coach and are back in the hunt. Last night they shut out the Blackhawks so expect them to come in with a lot of confidence. The Jets on the other hand should be feeling pretty good about themselves after dominating the Avs on the road just a couple nights back.

3 KEYS

DON’T LET UP

Last year at this time the Thrashers were in the hunt and looked like they were going to make the playoffs and gain some bandwagon fans for a couple weeks. Instead they had a monumental collapse, missed the playoffs and packed up and moved to Winnipeg. This is essentially the sam team so the memory of that fall from the playoffs should still be fresh in the minds of most of the players. There are two ways it can go. They can fall into the trap of believing that they are not a good team and fall apart again or they can use last years debacle and learn from it.  While a lot of the players are the same this team couldn’t be any more different. There is new coaches, new management and a new attitude that will not settle for anything but the best.

BOGOSIAN DOESN’T HAVE TO DO IT BY HIMSELF

Bogo has been a lot better this year mainly because the coaches aren’t expecting him to carry this team. He’s just being asked to do his job and thats it. He’s got teammates for everything else and so far this season its worked out great. The young D man is playing with confidence and is starting to find his game. The other night against the Avs with Buff out Bogocop took a step backwards. He was trying to force the puck and in turn made a few really bad turnovers. It seemed like he felt as if he needed to do more and fell into the same problems that plagued him all last season. Bogo just needs to relax and focus on what he is doing. Just worry about getting the pucks out of the zone and picking up your man. The rest will come.

STAY HEALTHY

Now that the Jets are officially in the hunt they need to find a way to stay there. The way to do that is to win games and the way to win games is to have your best players on the ice. Early in the season the Jets got hit with the injury bug yet were able to weather the storm and turn a potential lemon into lemonade. With so many top guys out the Jets were able to build some depth and get guys in there who normally wouldn’t see that much ice time. Well now sh!t just got real and the Jets need all their top players in the lineup every night if they want to hold onto that playoff birth. Little is out with a wink wink foot injury (ie BROKEN BONE)  and Big Buff missed the game against the Avs due to some nagging injury. The Jets are going to need all hands on deck if they want to hold off the likes of Washington and Buffalo whom they are currently ahead of in the standings. The training staff is going to need an all star like performance to keep the boys battle ready as they make their way into the 2nd half of the season.

Go Jets Go!
