Pittsburgh Penguins 19-11-4 42pts

Winnipeg Jets 16-13-5 37pts

7:30 MTS Centre

The Penguins come to town without Sid the Kid for the second time this season. Looks like the Jets fans won’t get to see the best player in the nHL unless we meet the pens in the playoffs and Sid is back (doubtful). The Jets played last night which usually spells doom but last nights game was anything but strenuous. The Habs were horrible and the Jets dominated. Claude Noel was able to roll all 4 lines so his top guys should be feeling pretty good. Shockingly only 5 points separate the two teams as Winnipeg continues to surprise. The Pens have been playing well of late with Malkan stepping in for the concussed Crosby. Look for the Jets and the Fans to let it all hang out since this is the last game before the Christmas break.

3 KEYS

ROLL 4

Depth is killer in this league. If you can get a regular shift for your 4th line it usually means you are winning and on a roll. Last night the Jets 4th liners got to see some decent ice time as the Jets played the Habs. The Jets are going to need all four lines tonight as the Pens come to town, They play a very fast physical style of game that is designed to wear you down and pay dividends in the 3rd period. The Jets will want to try and lessen the work load for their top players by getting the bottom 6 forwards into the game more often during the 1st and 2nd periods. Then when it comes time to shorten the bench in the 3rd the top lines won’t be tired.

LOST IN TRANSITION

The key to last nights game was how well the Jets moved from defense to offense and then back. They need to replicate this performance against the Penguins tonight. When the Pens turn over the puck the Jets need to move fast and start going the other way. Lets be honest here the Jets don’t have the talent the Pens have so they need to capitalize when they get chances. The breakout will be important tonight to neutralize the Pens speed. Quick passes that stretch the ice will enable the Jets to get chances.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Since this is the last game before Christmas I though that I would take this moment and wish you and yours a happy holidays! This is a fantastic time of the year and as the Jets play the Pens tonight take a moment and think about those who are less fortunate.  Times have been tough for some people and the holidays can make things difficult. As Jets fans lets show those who don’t have as much how fantastic we can be. Help your community, donate some old clothes. Do whatever you can within your means to make wherever you live a better place. The Jets coming back was the story of the year. Winnipeg showed that even when everyone counts you out you can still have a comeback. Things are good so lets make this a lttle better for those in need. Be good to yourself and to others.

Go Jets Go.

Ho! Ho! Ho!
