Video: Winnipeg Jets First Home Game Intro
As you can hear in this video, the atmosphere was deafening as the Winnipeg Jets took the ice for their first home game at the MTS Centre. Even though it was a split-squad pre-season game versus the Columbus Blue Jackets, Winnipeg hockey fans left no doubt that NHLÂ fever is alive an well in the River City.
There was not an empty seat in the house. Tickets for this pre-season game were impossible to find as fans welcomed home their Jets after 15 years without NHL hockey in the city.
The Jets skated to a 6-1 victory in front of the home crowd.
