The Winnipeg Jets New Logo for the 2011-12 NHL season was released on Friday July 22, 2011 after a leaked photo of the logo on a RBK shirt surfaced on the Internet.
Winnipeg Jets fans have been waiting anxiously for the release of the logo, as have the other NHL teams, since the official announcement of the Winnipeg Jets name at the NHL entry draft.
Mark Chipman, Chairman and Governor of True North Sports and Entertainment, indicated that it was important for the Jets to authenticate the logo and maintain the influence and heritage of the Royal Canadian Air Force and the close relationship they have with 17 Wing.
Below are the official new Winnipeg Jets logos and wordmarks.
What do you think of the new Winnipeg Jets Logos?
The primary logo looks like it would make a great bottle cap, don’t you think? Many fans have also commented that the alternate wordmark is very similar to that of the Toronto Blue Jays. There is certainly a resemblance, that is for sure.
All in all, the team did a great job designing their new brand identity and logos. It is especially interesting that the “Jet” in the primary logo, if it were viewed as a compass, points “True North” … as in True North Sports and Entertainment!
